Once
you've gone ®egime ze®o, it cinfiltrates your thinking in the most cinsidious /
ways. As a logical enough extension of
Cin's decision of a Sunday not to be connected electronically to any of his
devices in any way shape or form, a decision was made to go mute / as
well. Not a wo®d would escape / his
word-hole.
It's
hard enough, like all Things at first, to shuddup a your face, to keep your two
cents to yourself, to shut your gob, to fermer / la bouche. But it's not / that hard, matter of fact it
reduces - to ze®o that four-lettered wo®d - the percintage of saying something
of such rank stupidity that you regret it even before the words have left /
your wo®dhole. 'I doubt you've ever had
a stupid thought' James Cromwell's LAPD captain says it better to Kevin
Spacey's Detective Jack Valente in Curtis Hanson's take on James Elroy's L.A.
Confidential, before during and after trying to get Valente to agree to
some kind of arrangement with the department / brass, 'in your life'. But what comes out your word-hole is a
different kettle / of fish, L.A. Cinfidential is all / we gots.
Course
some folks rip out / their tongue rather than run the risk of saying a
faux-pas, and some folks go all ®egime ze®o in order to reduce the risk of
offending someone ever again. Cin nodded
and gave a half-smile when he turned up in Luskvegas of a Sunday morning coming
down yesterday, during his regular Sunday morning coming down rounds, ‘and
there’s nothing short of dying / that makes a man feel so alone / as the sunny
city sidewalk’ (y)our man Kris Kristofferson sings it better in his tune of the
same name, ‘and Sunday morning / coming down’.’
A person can go for some brief time without violating God's blessed
silence of a Sunday morning coming down, innit Electrified JC, mostly by making
theatrical gestures and using cinterpretative / dance.
Coming
upon his M and P, ready to drive their Da to 11 o'clock Mass, Cin made a
pantomime of looking at his watch wrist, though he has not worn a watch since
Christ was / a cowboy, innit Electrified JC, the glance down and the upraised
wrist is the universal symbol of 'let's go.'
As usual, Cin and his Da drove the twenty minutes to church in silence
anyway, no challenge / there. After
Mass, Cin shook the padre's hand, , these two gestures too understood across
the board by the cast of this Dog and Pony Show up on out on up on out on up on
out up here, it means 'thank you padre , and a good week / to you too.'
Next up
was the local depanneur, the convenience store where Cin and their Da go of a
Sunday morning coming down, after 11 o'clock mass. Cin's routine as always is to bring a black
cloth bag into the store and make the rounds of the place, aisle by aisle in a
counter clock-wise direction - or for those who haven't worn a watch since
Christ was / a cowboy (that's enough -id.), from right to left - picking up impulse
buys until there is no more room in the bag be©ause ®etail the®apy, and / or he
runs out / of aisles, which in the case of the depanneur is not particularly
difficult as the number of aisles runs / to two in total.
Following
his round-the-store aisle trip, Cin will check to see whether any baguettes
have been baked that day, and, depending on the day, pay for the ®etail-the®apy
purchases, as well as anything else that their Da might have taken a shine to
in the meantime. Some banter is required
as a ®ule during these transactions between Cin, their Da and the check-out lady, who also
bakes the bread and essentially runs / the place, but again yesterday Cin was
able to beg off on the niceties, leaving their Da to bid a fond farewell to the
depanneur and its friendly staff on both / of their behalfs, ®ules is all / we
gots.
After
the depanneur visit, Cin and their Da returned to their M and P's house as is
their wont as of late, after a brief sojourn around the country mile that is /
the neighborhood up on out on up on out on up on out on up out there in
Luksvegas on the Quebe© side. And that's
when Cin's hear no evil / see no evil / speak no evil abruptly / ended. Silence implies / ©insent.
