2015-01-02 honour’d more in the breach than
th’obervance edited / saved / published
‘Came
out’ the cop said it better after pulling Cin over for a busted headlight and
running his license, ‘clean’ handing the license back to Cin. ‘I’ Cin would have said it better, if he had
not had a Rugby Club team-mate in the car at the time, ‘doubt / that’. Cinstead he said nothing, his driving record
is unblemished but surely something popped out on the police SCMODS machine –
‘State / County / Municipal’, John Belushi’s Jake Blues spells out the acronym
better in John Landis’ The Blues Brothers
to brother Elwood, played by Dan Ackroyd, ‘Offender / Data / System’ after the
same thing happened to the Blues brothers as happened / to Cin – but still Cin
crossed himself afterwards, innit Electrified JC, happy to have avoided an Out
Come The Cuffs cincident, just when everything was going / so perfect,
unblemished is all / we gots.
Course everone knows that New
Year’s resolutions are ‘honour’d more in the breach’, (y)our (wo)man Hamlet’s
mother says it better in Shakespeare’s play of the same name from back in the
16th, ‘than in / the’ observance’, but still (y)our man Cin the humble(d)
narrator of (t)his Take This Thing Back to Baltime-moires and honour’d
more in the breach than th’obervance that cinfamous December night was after
deciding point / blank that five-lettered wordle that his New Year’s resolution
would be to regulate the details of his existence ‘as soon’ – What Would Jack
Say as John Torrence to wife Wendy in Kubrick’s film take on your The Shining, innit Mr.
King – ‘as possible’, so that the next time that SWAT Team Eight or who(m)ever
comes / a calling and runs his plates so to speak, they will come up, the
traffic cop said it better ‘clean’, honour’d more in the breach than
th’obervance is all / we gots.
‘Everything’s’
Scarface says it better in de Palma’s movie of the same name, even as his
empire of coke / crumbles around
him, ‘roses’, and ‘everything’s’ Homer
J. Simpson says it better in The Simpsons episode, all evidence to the
contrary, ‘coming up / Homer’, though both of course are proven wrong –
cinfamously, neither suffers from the only true bankruptcy of enthusiasm – not suffering from the only true bankruptcy
of enthusiasm is all / we gots.
Oh yeah,
regulate yo life that four-lettered word (hooker please, -id.) and always take
(y)our (wo)man Tosh the laptop on yo (m) / (s) / (b) / (gl) and just plain /
adventures, this latter of course is (y)our man Cin’s perennial actual new
year’s horroresolution, a corollary to his perennial promise about this time /
of year to write / more, writing more is all / he gots.
‘An
optimist is someone’ someone said it better, and Cin parroted during this
Christmas break, innit Electrified JC, after being aksed how 2014 the Year was,
and how 2015 the Year is likely to be / better,
‘who hasn’t heard / the news’.
Course New Year’s and Christmas break is what passes for / a staycation
for Cin these days, ‘this is no longer a vacation’ Chevy Chase’s Clark Grimwald
(?) says it better now facetiously in National Lampoon’s Vacation -
following the usual family vacation joys and (s) / (m) / (b) / (gl) and just
plain / adventures in the movie of dragging the family dog cinadverently behind
the station wagon to its’ death and having a beloved auntie die in the
back-seat of same, ‘a dead person’ Clark’s daughter says it better of the
latter, ‘breathed / on me’ - ‘this has become a quest / for fun.’
Good
times, the Griswalds of course heading in this movie to Wally World in
California, Cin’s next / destination, and sprinting Chariots of Fire-style
to the entrance of the same in slow motion, with that movie’s borrowed
inspirational soundtrack music by Vangelis accompanying them. ‘What’s this regarding’ John Candy’s RIP security
guard at the amusement park akses Clark better, before during and after (y)our
man Clark delivers his cock-and-bull story about having an appointment with the
boss after finding out that Wally World is in fact closed / for the season,
‘Mr. Gristle?’
It’s a
good movie for this TGIFFriday’s edition of this Take This Thing Back to
Baltime-moires and honour’d more in / the breach than th’ observance, this
movie from the surplus pile of DVDs up in here in the cindominium, either to be
kept as part of the Permanent Collection up on out on up on out on up on out up
here or to be surplussed to the basement storage room of the cindominium, or –
as a result the ultimate Thumbs Down horroreview - to be banished from the
cindominium / altogether. Another one of
Cin’s untenable new year’s horroresolutions is to get horrorganizized - ‘I need
to get’ de Niro’s Travis Bickle tries unsuccessfully to crack wise with Cybil
Shephard’s political operative better in Scorcese’s Taxi Driver,
‘organizized’, and the cubicombs art poster in his cold-water flat makes the
same point / in pictures ! - and part of that
self-regulation and organizization is to reduce his permanent DVD
collection so that it fits into the four shelves dedicated / to the same up in
here in the condominium, banished is all / we gots.
Course
what that looks like is (y)our man Cin videeing the surplus DVDs one by one and
passing judgement on each and ever last loving one of them. Good news is that National Lampoon’s
Vacation just made / the cut – Chevy Chase plays a put-upon wage slave
(‘wage’ Mr. Monty Burns called his
employees better in a recently videed episode of The Simpsons, ‘worms’)
and middle-class citizen about as well as Cin does, which is to say with much /
resistance - bad news is that the
‘Vacation’ series came in a box of four DVDs, and according to CIn’s rules and
regulations of reviewing and organizization, now the next film in the franchise
gots / to be videed as well, hopefully it’s the one with Juliette Lewis (that’s
enough –id.), rules and regulations of reviewing and organizization is all / we
gots.
No such
luck, the next in the Vacation series is of course European Vacation,
‘Clark’, Clark’s wife as played by tje red-hot Beverly d’Angelo implores Chase’s
Clark Griswald better on the game show ‘Pigs in a Poke’ at the beginning of the
film, and in so doing inadvertently winning the Grand Prize, ‘Clark’ being the
answer of the Grand Prize question, the latter part and partner of the
explorers’ expedition whose answer is ‘the Lewis and Clark expedition’.
Amy Heckerling directed this one, Heckerling the director of course
of the great Fast Times at Ridgemont High. ‘Hi Chuck’, Chase’s Clark Griswald says it
better in this movie upon meeting the fictional Prince Charles at the fictional
Buckingham Palace during the first leg of the Grimwalds’ European
Vacation. Power Station provides the
Europudding background music at the Club where the young Griswald son is after
meeting some Eurotrim in the next scene, and of course every Euroscoundrel is
trying to get down the daughter’s pants from va-cay day one.
Turns out
that the accommodations as promised by the ‘Pig in the Poke’ producers do not
meet up with what the Griswalds actually get during their time / in London,
innit Sir Percival. ‘Dad’ the Griswald
son says it better to Chase’s Clark, before during and after (y)our man Clark
pulls out his computer translation gadget while trying to understand the hotel
clerk’s cockney accent, ‘he’s speaking / English’, and so / he is, innit Sir
Percival .
Thank you for reading this Take This Thing Back to
Baltime-moires and honour’d more in the breach than th’observance.
