2014-12-08          This Take This Thing Back to Baltimore me-moirs and (f) / (s) / © / (b) log.

'Horror' the lead story on the news in the movie that Cin videed this after had it better, 'in Echo Park'.  What it was is that the erstwhile news photographer played by Jake Gylenthal (Gyllenthal ?.) in the movie filmed some massacre or accident or drive-by-shooting or home invasion (that's enough -id.) in the Echo Park section of Los Angeles, and then sold it to the cougar(ific) news director at the local television station, played by Rene Russo.

Narrative jumped the shark half-way through and fell completely apart at the end, by which time Gylenthal's socio- and pyschopathic camera guy was not only setting up the murders and the take-down by the police of same, but videoing all of it, and getting away with it.  Ed-Still, his socio- and pyschopathic babbling on and on and on about corporate cliches and lies throughout his reign of terror was amusing / enough, and not at all dissimalar to the lies that Cin and every other wage slave has been having to swallow since time / immemorial.

Also Cin has gots to gets to L.A. before Christ comes home, innit Electrified JC, if not before Christmas, Cash and Mo you've been / warned.  He was in L.A. on a layover once from Sydney Australia, years ago, but was uncharacteristically enough too intimidated by the size of the city to do anything other than sit in the airport for eight hours and - not so uncharacteristically - drink.  Plus Gylenthaal's (that's enough -id.) camera guy bought a sweet new red Camaro or Corvette in the film, and Cin may have to buy one like it as the last piece of what he has been after horroreferring to for several years now as his 'mid-life / crisis', which like - and / or in cinjuntion with - this Take This Thing Back to Baltimore me-moirs  and (f) / ( b) / © / (s) log one day 'must', Diane Keaton's Kay Corleone says it better to husband Michael, played of course by Al Pacino in Copploa's Godfather Part Two  'all / end.'

'I've told you nefore Michael' the Irish priest reprimands your man Michael better in this film, after Michael the town iijit has ripped the claw from a live lobster which he has just caught off the Irish / sea - all in the name of impressing the town bike - 'they're created / creatures.'  It's a good line, innit Electrified JC, 'created / creatures', course Cin has no idea what / it means but from here on in it will be after being part of his / vocabulary.

What it is is that Robert Mitchum plays an Irish schoolteacher whose ®ed-hot female student falls in love with him, and who gives her the high hat at firstwhen she gives him the news in the schoolhouse but about five seconds later changes / his mind, and who / wouldn't.  Meanwhile the locals as is their wont are after shooting every English swinging dick in the county, and burying their bodies in open / graves.  Sure and you're going to make him stand up and get the name of the movie for you now, innit little wee jeordie, it's Ryan's Daughter.

Rosie, played by Sarah Miles, gets all kind of entangled with the local English occupiers (soldiers -id.) after this May-to-October romance and wedding to Mitchum's schoolteacher, and quelle/ surprise the Irish and the English start to kill each other, 'it doesn't transfigure the world' Vincent Canby of the New York Times memorably bad-mouthed this David Lean film, written by Robert Bolt, 'it embalms it.'

Course there's nothing wrong with being embalmed, innit Electrified JC, like your man Lazarus, raised from / the dead.  Cin was after reminiscing this very after with Cash and Mo over the e-mail about Jake's Wake, the aforentioned faux-funeral that was held in the Atwater quad this month some twenty (!) years ago for your man Jake, and at which the Bee Gees played 'Stayin' Alive' on the CD (tape / vinyl ? –id.) player at midnight, and up jumped / Jake out his coffin, Jake one of the few people on campus who after getting more pie-eyed than (y)our man Cin the humble(d) narrator of this Take This Thing Back to Baltimore me-moirs and (s) / (f) / © / (b) log of a Saturday night, but unlike ©in, Jake would be after heading down to St. Mary's Church of a ‘Sunday Morning’ Kris Kristofferson sings it better in his song of the same name, ‘Coming Down’, to try to pray it all / away, 'I hurt myself today' Johnny Cash channels Trent Reznor's 'Hurt' better, 'to see if I still feel / try to kill it all away / but I remember / everything’, Sunday Morning Coming Down is all / we gots.

Good times, Cin was embalmed for several years as well, 'I went to a party in 1980' the chimney sweep who came to clean the flu at the rented shoolhouse in the 802 where Cin was after spending his (first –id.) Senior Year Spring term, 'and woke up ten years / later.'  You didn't miss / much, Oliver Twist, 'you're looking fine' Cin said it better during a '80s party at Club Midd to some unsuspecting (suspecting -id.) co-eds, 'innit BC, for the '80s', matter of fact Cin dropped the same line at his high school class's 25th year reunion, not two months ago, at which he wore a loud Hawaiian shirt, wearing a loud Hawaiian shirt to your high school class's 25th year re-union '80s party is all / we gots.

'Pretending' your man Iron Mike said it better as of late, describing both his mental / age, and referring to both his own and Cin's respective life-styles - unadorned still by the usual trappings of houses / cars / families - 'that I'm still / 20', pretending that I'm still 20 is all / we gots.  Course our mortal coils say otherwise, innit Shakespeare, not to mention our attention / spans.

Embalmed too our habits, yesterday Cin as is his wont as of late went out to Luskvegas of a Sunday Morning Coming Down and went to Mass at his namesake church with his Da, 'meme St. Francois et St. Raymond' the priest said it better during his sermon, referring to the rough-and-tumble lives / of the saints - even St. Francis and St. Raymond, apparently and specifically - and how they weren't all epiphanies and haloes.  Though he skirts irreverence up on out on up on out on up out here in this Take This Thing  Back to Baltimore me-moirs and (f) / (s) / © / (b) log with his shout-outs to Electrified JC, innit Electrified JC, visible from the windows of the cindominium up on out on up on out up on out on the Quebec side of the river - 'sacrilicious' Homer Simpson says it better after quaffing one questionable brew or another - Cin likes to visit the church of a Sunday Morning Coming Down, 'there are' someone wrote it better of faith, and for the same reasons as Cin, 'no atheists / in foxholes.'

'Intermission' innit you little monsters, a lost courtesy from the old movies whereby everone could get arseholed and / or have a dart in the lobby for five minutes before the film goes on and on and on.  In this one the saucy Rosie just lied to Mitchum's husband about being unfaithful to him, not ten minutes after banging away in the swamp with the young and thoroughly shell-shocked English officer.  'Entr/Acte' follows 'intermission' now, whereas (y)ouir man ©in's practice - one followed by a pair of fellow movie-goers this after, Cin realized as he heard the tell-tale pops of the beer cans being opened - was to simply bring a six-pack into the movie theatre  and enjoy / the show, cintermission and entr'acte / be damned, bringing a six-pack into the theatre and enjoying this Dog and Pony Show, cintermission and entr'acte / be damned, is all / we gots.

After the intermission the pace / picks up in Ryan's Daughter.  Schoolteacher Mitchum, playing a better cuckold than Cin would have thought, gets a terrific taste of the green monster envy after he viddees some footprints on the beach that he imagines - correctly - as belonging to his young wife and of course a third party.  Meanwhile your man Michael the village ijiit, after jabbering on and on for a while - no one believes him, he's simple, 'some folks call it Hell' your man Slingblade played by Billy Bob Thornton in his movie of the same name  50 years and a different continent later says it better, 'I call it / Hades', the usual - finally convinces the rest of the village that the young officer and Rosie have been having it off in the swamp for some time.

'A lying / whore' his Irish grandpa would have judged Rosie, pronouncing it 'hoor', and he would have been right, but it is the defective Major in the narrative who is just as much / to blame, and English to boot, and of course Mitchum's schoolteacher for cradle-robbing.  'The way I see it' the local shopkeeper tells Rosie flat-out after refusing to sell Rosie potatoes - apparently the worst of all Irish / insults - 'there's loose women, and there's whores', and finally of course the worst insult of all, 'and there's British officers' / whores.'  Still she's easy on the eyes , our Rosie, despite all of their shenanigans sure it's the ladies make life / worth living.

Thanks for reading this Take This Thing Back to Baltimore me-moirs and (f) / (s) / © / (b) log.
